PSG have teamed up with it’s traditional sports partners to support the PSG team’s eSports outfit.
PSG, the Paris sports club, announced an agreement with PMU eSport, a new sub-brand created by sports betting operator PMU. The deal is reported to be six figures!
A PMU spokesperson stated –
“We were already partners with PSG on the football side and we are proud to extend our partnership and join the club in its ambitious esports project,” Samuel Loiseau, PMU’s Marketing Director stated. “We share the same ambition to become key players in the sector.”
While many traditional bookmakers having entered the eSports sector already, like Ladbrokes for example, this partnership marks PMU’s first steps into the market. Being PSG eSports’ official betting partner isn’t enough however. PMU wants to partner “with numerous eSports events in France all year round,” Loiseau said.
“The agreement with PMU marks a turning point in the development of our eSports project,” PSG executive Fabien Allègre added. “We are delighted to have gained the confidence of such a major player in sport within just a few months of our launch.”
PSG introducing one of its traditional sponsors to eSports demonstrates the benefit of sports clubs such as PSG getting involved in eSports. Not only do they open themselves up to a younger audience and new partnerships, they can bring their existing partnerships into the eSports sphere for the first time.
